Submit works by October 15th @ 6:30pm at the Main Branch. Three winners will be announced and contacted on October 22nd and receive a mystery prize!
Rules:
Must be 1-5 pages in length (12 point font, double spaced). If the story is handwritten, it must be legible.
Original work.
Must be in grades 6-12.
Stories will be judged based on the following:
Originality
What innovative, creative way can you tell your story? This includes the content and development.
Scare/Chill Factor
Push your writing beyond the obvious scare tactics. Build some suspense and see if you can raise goose bumps on your terrified reader!
Clarity
Clarity will include organization (flow) and mechanics (spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization), so please have another person proofread your work.
Please include: your first and last name, phone number & grade.

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012Our monthly Teen Gaming event will take place at the City Hall basement on January 27th from 3:30-5pm. We play the Wii, board games, charades, and cards. You are welcome to invite friends and to bring in your own games from home.

Teen Art Contest!
Thursday, January 5th, 2012Theme: Love, Compassion
Submissions will be accepted at the Gretna Public Library: January 13th – February 3rd.
Only one submission per person.
Rules:
1 Participants must be in grades 6-12.
2 Must be original visual work.
3 Artworks may be of any medium with sizing rules:
- Canvas, paper, and the like: no larger than 11 x 17”
- Sculpture or other forms: able to fit within the rectangle of an 11 x 17” page
4 A typed page with a brief description of your work MUST be accompanied when turning in artwork:
Please include contact information on the back or underneath of your creation to keep privacy and decrease the chance of confusion. The typed description will be publicly displayed next to your work.
Judging will be done by the members of the Gretna Friends of the Library based upon the following criteria with equal weight:
Creativity/Originality
Theme based
Quality
Overall appeal/impression
Winners:
Three winners will be chosen and awarded with Hobby Lobby gift cards! The final winners will be announced on February 13th. Winners will be contacted via the telephone number provided.
Artwork will be displayed in the Gretna Public Library until February 14th and may then be picked up by the artist. Please keep in mind that creations will be viewable to all members of the community.
