‘Shipping Books Overseas’

The Summer Reading Program theme this year is:
Make Waves @ Your Library.
Our first event that will take place is shipping books overseas for the Books for Africa organization.
When: Thursday, June 3rd @ 4pm
Where: Meet at Parish Hall
What: Sorting and packing day-we will meet at Parish Hall and choose the books we would like to donate, from there we will walk to the library and a member of the Gretna Friends of the Library will drive over our selected materials. Next, we will sort out books and school supplies. Lastly, we will pack them up to be sent off, adding some fun, personal touches!
Registration is required. Call 332-4480.
This is for those participating in the Teen Summer Reading Program. (Participants will receive a ticket for this).

The Summer Reading Program is approaching quickly! If you would like to participate, stop into the library to sign up! Above this post will be activities that are taking place throughout the summer.

Teen Gaming! May 28th 3-4:30pm
May 19th
Friday, May 28th from 3-4:30 pm we will play games and the Wii, eat snacks and have a fun time! Bring in friends and your own games too!
This is a free event for those in grades 6-12. Snacks and refreshments provided!

Don’t forget to sign up for the Summer Reading Program! Open registration starts on May 8th from 10am-2pm!! You may sign up after this date, but you must come in person to do so!
We have much planned for our SRP theme of: Make Waves @ Your Library, come be a part of the fun!
Culture Connection: Egyptian: May 18th @ 3:45pm

Join us for our second Culture Connection! This one will focus on Egyptian society (ancient and present day). Come to enjoy an Egyptian dessert and to be informed of cultural aspects such as: common words and phrases, history, food, dance, art, music, and so forth!

Hey everyone! Join us for our last T.A.B. Meeting before the Summer Reading Program starts. We have much to discuss and final thoughts/tweaks on SRP ideas and special events will take place. As always, snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Teen Advisory Board Meeting April 13, 2010

Teen Advisory Board (T.A.B.) meeting will take place at the Gretna Public Library on April 13th, 2010 from 4-5pm. Come to discuss upcoming events and help plan for the Summer Reading Program! We will first plan and discuss, then look through our choice of books for the summer and make some decisions! Feel free to bring along friends/classmates.
